If you have not read the previous part of “Rejection That Leads To Selection (Part - 1)”, do read it, before proceeding further.

Let’s continue the story ...

Suddenly, at 4 O’ clock, i lost my cellular towers and with that my internet connection was also gone. And now there is only half an hour left for the interview. I somehow managed to bring the towers back by restarting my mobile continuously as i was not getting any other though at that time...but after that also...my internet connection was not stable and was not working properly.

Now it’s exactly 4:30 PM and right now i’m struggling with my internet connection. On 4:32 PM, interviewer called me on my cell - “Hey Anupam, you’re having a telephonic interview... are you coming ??”.

I said - “Yes sir, i’ll be there in 2 minutes”.

I somehow joined the call but that call quality was so bad that i was not be able to understand the question properly and if i so...i answered it wrongly due to extra nervousness and fear of losing the connection again.

Now it’s 5:15 PM, interviewer said the whole call was very disturbing and i’ll suggest the HR for another telephonic interview.

But inside me.... i was known that they won’t call me again.

And then i realized why Google HR was stressing a point of having a good internet connection at the time of interview discussion and guys this is the most important point, do not take it lightly.

Then after being rejected from Google, i was so upset that i didn’t prepare for any other campus-based interviews. And then only i got one news from my friend that ALTUDO is coming to our campus. I filled the form for ALTUDO without any interest and also gave the written paper without any preparation as I was badly hopeless after the former rejection.

When i came out from the examination hall, one of my friends asked me...how’s the exam? -- i said - “i won’t be able to crack this exam.”

This is because the technical questions were from C# and i had prepare my Google interview in C++ and at the same time i was totally unaware of that fact that C++ and C# are similar to each other. I had just marked the relatable answer to the question.

But when the result of the exam was announced, there was my name in the first position. This news made me recover 20% from Google rejection. I was little happy at that time but wondering that i won’t be able to crack the interview.

The next process was interview and for that we were invited at the ALTUDO office, Gurgaon. I went there for taking another rejection without any preparation.

There, i had my 3 rounds of interview – 2 technical and 1 HR. This process took whole day.

For me, this was the first time I was entering into the corporate world and it was beautiful and at the same time a parallel comparison was running into my mind between what I was seeing and what we use to see corporate world in movies. They were same!!!

In the Altudo office, initially HR gave us a formal introduction about the company and then explained the interview process after which one by one interview began. I think my turn came at 4 or 5 position and HR called my name. My nervousness was at peak, as getting rejected by Google, now no other company will select me thoughts once again started gushing into my mind. As technical experts were busy with other interviews, HR decided to take HR round first.

After formal introduction, HR asked me about the company (Altudo) and as I was not prepared for any such thing, I gave a general answer. Then she asked about the technology company working in. I answered unknowingly which was not good. I soon realized that interview is going against me as I answered some question which was not relating at all and I was stated sweating. Finally, that round overs and from her face I can say she was not happy. After that I had a technical round. I though I’ll try to do good in this but strangely technical round was very short for me and was not proper technical was compared to other with me. They didn’t ask me a single technical question. Now when I came out, I was sure that I’m rejected here as well.

The Last Round: was with Hiring HR head of the company. When I entered into the cabin, she was looking into my resume. This resume was same that I submitted in Google interview. She said your resume is impressive and suggested to take one more technical round and arranged another technical round for me. This gives me a hope like may be this time destiny wants something else from me. I entered the conference room where technical team was waiting for me with my resume. I can clearly see that ‘Rejected’ was written over my resume. So now my last technical round starts.

From tech team there were two persons, one was Architect and another was Technical Lead, they made me comfortable for the round after which started questions from database concept. Before entering into the conference hall, I had an instinct that destiny wants something from me so I decided to be very straightforward to it – (may be you guys think that it not a good idea AT ALL.) and I also don’t want the interview go against me as the first round. For google interview, I only prepared DSA and that is what I was knowing actively, therefore to the database question, I answered I can give you a generalize answer but I’m not prepared in this. Then, they jumped to PHP concepts, I answered ‘sorry – I’m not prepared’. Then they jumped to Compiler and regular expressions and ask me to right one regular expression. I answered – I barely passed in this subject so not prepared. Now this time interviewer started laughing and I was smiling.

They asked, what you’re prepared with. I said DSA.The moment they heard DSA, they started questioning from basic to advance though implementing the code and I was writing every code with ease as in this I was fully prepared as Google interview preparation was helping me here. This interview went for around 1 hour. This technical interview was good. But still I was thinking whether they’ll select me or not due to first two interviews.

Then, at the end, we had a meeting with some company employees who were alumni of our college. We discussed their experience in the company and work culture.

Two days after the interview, i was going to the college for my final semester exam and on the way i received a mail from college placement cell --

And i was the only student who got selected in the college for ALTUDO.

That moment was really precious for me... and at same time I realized that respect for my college got amplified many times.

And this didn’t take me more time to recognize that...

“If you’re dreaming for something and destiny wants to give you something else then destiny will make you work for your dreamt thing and will give you that she wants to give.”

I know ALTUDO is not GOOGLE, but i know one thing for sure -

I am living my dream.
